Bringing home a PC for your child is just like gifting your child their favourite toy, only every day. Your child plays, studies and explores the world with a click of a button - now imagine that same excitement when your child can study using their own PC at school!
BYOD or bring your own device is growing to be a worldwide education trend, here’s all you need to know.
So, What Is BYOD?
In a recent survey, major software player, Adobe, concluded that about 85% of educational institutions believed that it’s important to provide an environment that has the right mix of technology and education. The practice of BYOD is essential to blending technology into daily learning for children of all ages. All children have to do is carry their PC to school, once the right infrastructure is in place, namely internet access and sufficient charging points.
How Is It Helpful For Your Children?
Age is no bar for a child to benefit from using a computer to study. The very same benefits get amplified when a child has their own PC to learn during class. With repeated use, children become familiar with the workings of their PC - saving them the time and effort of picking up new technology in school. The same time and effort can be used to read up and work on an assignment. Moreover, children feel personally responsible since it is their own PC, in turn taking more of an interest in studies, too. The Journal calls BYOD as a way for students to take “learning in their own hands” - a skill every child needs to develop for their future career.
What Does The Future Hold?
The future is about embracing technology in every aspect of our lives and being quick to adapt to changes. So, it helps for today’s children to start young. IT Rooms in schools are a great start and are commonplace in the majority of Indian schools. The step further would be for every child to have their own PC for use at both home and school for a study routine that is more grasping concepts and being curious to learn more, rather than just memorise subject matter.
Aarambh is a pan-India PC for Education initiative engineered to enhance learning using the power of technology; it is designed to help parents, teachers and children find firm footing in Digital India. This initiative seeks to connect parents, teachers and students and provide them the necessary training so that they can better utilise the PC for learning, both at school and at home.
