How to Raise a Tech-Savvy Kid

“IT+IT=IT

Indian talent +Information technology = India tomorrow”

-Narendra Modi

In today’s time, the social world is defined more through technology and less through personal behaviour. Most children are smart, observant and adaptive to the ways of technology.

To make sure technology is being used effectively and in its best manner, parents should keep in mind a few pointers on how to raise a balanced tech-savvy child.

  • By inculcating them in technology-related discussions - Be open to discussions with your child about technical advantages. Actively encourage a healthy outlook towards PCs, understand what they are doing online, and especially while they’re using social media. Discuss its pros and cons to inculcate a sense of responsibility amongst them.
  • Participation through technology in educational field - India has the largest population in the world in the age bracket of 5-24 years which presents a large number of opportunities in the educational field (ibef.org- July 2019). Students are expecting the most technologically enhanced experiences from their higher education. Overflowing content, educational videos, real-time tutoring, are easily available which has transformed the education system in an altogether new manner. Earlier for every subject, a student had to travel to different tutors but through real-time tutoring, they have the advantage of being at one place and getting top-notch coaching.
  • Considering technology as a companion- For a tech-savvy child, a companion is their gadget when used in the best interest. Its benefits are enormous. A PC is more than just a machine it is a medium to learn, an entertainment factory, a great storyteller, and a lot more!
  • Strike a balance- Prolonged dependency on technology can have its adverse effects. Not all information can be of genuine backing, but to a child, Google may seem to be a means of impervious knowledge. A child tends to adopt the behaviour of their parents. Make sure you strike a balance and spend time personally with your little ones.

Remember that PCs Today Are An Integral Part of Learning - as a parent, one needs to accept change and be a part of it to help children grow to start by picking the right PC.
