Over the past couple of years, all the children have adapted to online learning platforms. Although it was our only way to keep everyone safe from the pandemic, online learning has created a long gap between the teachers and students. This has affected the learning process drastically. Here are some simple ways to make remote learning less distant:
Interactive learning: The student can get easily distracted when everyone is muted and the cameras are off. It is crucial to keep children attentive throughout the session to make it fruitful. Therefore, encourage children to keep the audio and videos on.
Fun activities: Absence of classmates makes learning boring. To cope up with the loss of physical presence do fun activities. For example, teaching in a garden when talking about a variety of plants.
Keep testing: Small, surprise tests will make kids pay more attention to the lessons. An MCQ once a week or a small presentation on different topics will make learning joyful and effective. Besides that, it will also help students develop social skills.
Appreciate & reward: Appreciation and rewards for hard work motivate kids to do better. Small rewards go a long way and appreciation for a correct answer keeps them attentive. It will also motivate other students to work harder.
Besides these, teachers can form groups to think of interactive activities, hold question/answer sessions and can even invite guest teachers to make online learning fun.
